Joe Torre served up a memorable career with the Cardinals, one that is best summarized on his shiny new 2016 Cardinals Hall of Fame plaque.

“During his six seasons with the Cardinals, [Joe] Torre wreaked havoc on opposing teams with his bat and was named to the NL All-Star Team on four occasions, three times at different positions (1B, 3B and C). He won the National League Most Valuable Player Award in 1971 after leading the Majors with a .363 batting average, 230 hits and 137 runs batted in. His .308 batting average as a Cardinal ranked eighth in club history upon his retirement. After his playing career, Torre returned to manage the Cardinals. Inheriting a last-place team, he led the club to three straight winning seasons.”

In other words, he was pretty good.

In this week’s Inside Access with Cardinals Magazine, staff writer Elisabeth Meinecke sat down with the new Hall of Famer to reflect on his career and accomplishments with the Cardinals.
